Submitting Assignments

FOR YOUR SUCCESS...

  • Retain a copy of ALL assignments you submit 
  • It is your responsibility to ensure that assignments are submitted and received 
  • ALL assignments MUST be submitted to Mr. Davis in person and on time, unless otherwise stated by Mr. Davis
  • Assignment due dates and times are determined by Mr. Davis. Please check our calendar for applicable due dates. 

ONLINE ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Email

Email Address for submitting Assignments: davis.assignment@gmail.com
  • Assignments MUST be submitted to the above address as an ATTACHMENT in Word format or PDF. 
  • Send your document as one file (no multiple attachments)
  • ONLY assignments are accepted at the above email address.  No questions and or inquiries will be responded to. 

SENDING YOUR ASSIGNMENT AS AN ATTACHMENT

  • Please include the subject, assignment name, your name and class in the subject line of your email (e.g. Math, Transformations Task, Bob Smith, Davis)
  • Information in the body of the email will NOT be read  

CONFIRMATION EMAILS

  • Once your assignment is received an automatic confirmation will be sent within one business day (excluding weekends) 
  • IF there is a problem in processing your assignment, you will be notified by email, with an explanation of the problem within 1 business day  
  • Please be advised, if you are using Hotmail, or another email system in which you can set your security level, you may not receive the automatic confirmation - please check your trash, or junk mail box. 

FORMAT SUGGESTIONS

  • Use a standard font (e.g. Arial, Times New Roman, Courier) and one inch margins on all documents

Friday Dec 19

Last day of school before the break. Don't forget to take home everything you need for the break and anything disposable in your lockers. 

Spirit Day - wear festive clothing

Health - working on your PSA
Math - continue to work on your Transformations project

Geography 8's - will start working on your geography projects

Potluck at lunch (both classes) - don't forget everything purchased needs to be labeled nut free and anything made needs to include the list of ingredients. 

After lunch - stack all desks in the hallway and then assembly. 

Homework:- Dec 18 - Jan 5

Literacy: Read for 30 minutes, work on creating "Think Marks". For leisure write a story about any topic you want. Try to incorporate different thematic themes and story telling devices. 
Math: practice your math by playing Prodigy Games. I want you to explore and think about different patterns around you. We will be starting patterning the first week back. 
Health: I want you over the break to keep a food log of everything you are eating on a daily basis. It will help increase your understanding of healthy eating.
Geography: if you choose to, do some research for your geography project. The more you do, the easier it will be for you when you come back over the break. Remember document everything and I want you to find primary and secondary sources.  
Drama: brainstorm ideas for what you want to do in silent movie. 
Most important!: take it easy and enjoy your break!

Golden Broom Award

Congratulations to our class for winning the Golden Broom Award for the cleanest classroom last week at Henderson Avenue PS! Keep up the hard work and there will be many more awards in our future!

Art:

Pointillism: Each part of the picture is made using individual dots.  Students will be doing this using pencil crayons.  End result is very impressive.


After Christmas Break: - In the new year, students will take a brief break from Pointillism for a couple weeks to work on their Geography mixed media brochures.

Math and Literacy - This Week!

Today:

Math:

  • Will continue to work on our quilting assignments, remember it is to be done in class only. Remember Grade 8's must inlclude quadrants and coordinate points where shapes are located.


Literacy:

  • Laptop cart has been booked, but please continue to bring in your own technology.  
  • Before starting your Persuasive Argumentative Essay you must first have a PEER edit your MP3 player 1 page persuasive piece and fill out the RUBRIC, all advice will help you strengthen your Summative Piece 
  • You will continue to work on your Persuasive Argumentative Essay (must include, intro, thesis, at least 3 paragraphs arguing both sides of your topic and conclusion summing up everything.  Remember it's to be written in 3rd person).  
  • You will also be working on your 4 RRJ, all due at the end of the week and please clearly indicate which one you want me to assess otherwise I will choose one at random.

Argumentative Persuasive Essays are due this Friday.
All 4 reading response journals, comprehension and word work sheets are due this Friday and will be checked for completion.  For the RRJ choose one and indicate which one you want me to evaluate.

Health:
Will be collecting and assessing Jamie Oliver TED Talk sheets this Friday.

Art:
Will continue working on Pointilism and then will taking a break from it for 2 weeks in the New Year and will continue on them again after the Geography Project is completed.
